Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun
Premier of the State Council Li Qiang will attend and address the Opening Ceremony of the 10th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Board of Governors in Beijing on June 26, the Chinese Foreign Ministry (FM) announced on Tuesday.
Asked about China's expectations for the meeting, FM spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that since the establishment of the AIIB in 2015, the organization has achieved rapid development with the joint support of its members.
By adhering to international standards, rules-based operations, and high-level governance, the bank has emerged as an important new member of the global multilateral development system, making positive contributions to global infrastructure development and sustainable growth, said the spokesperson.
Guo noted that this year's annual meeting, themed "Connecting for Development, Collaborating for Prosperity," aims to review AIIB's achievements over the past decade and outline its development path for the next ten years, which holds great significance as a bridge between the past and the future.
China looks forward to working with all parties to further strengthen AIIB's role, promote connectivity and sustainable development across Asia, improve the global economic governance system, and contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind, said Guo.
