In response to questions on recent China-US trade talks in Sweden, Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) spokesperson He Yadong said on Thursday that the two sides held candid, in-depth, and constructive discussions in Stockholm from July 28 to 29 on trade relations and macroeconomic policy issues of mutual concern.
They reviewed and acknowledged progress made on the Geneva consensus and the London framework, He said.
In line with the consensus reached during the Stockholm trade talks, the two sides have agreed to continue pushing for the continued extension by 90 days of the pause on 24 percent of reciprocal tariffs of the US side, as well as counter measures of the Chinese side, which helps further stabilize China-US economic and trade relations and inject greater certainty into global economic growth and stability, He said.
China looks forward to working with the US to fully leverage the bilateral economic and trade consultation mechanism, further deepen dialogue, and strive for more win-win outcomes in line with the important consensus reached by the two heads of state in their phone call, according to He.
